I blush to say that it has taken me this long to discover this precious page (thanks to Mike) ... and I would like to add something to it. Actually, I don't think I could have written anything before this, and it has been 1-1/2 years since her death. Too soon. Too soon. As her only sibling (and 17 years older), my first memory of Candace is seeing her moments after her birth, an absolutely beautiful baby with a full head of hair - black curly ringlets - surrounding a cherubic face. Her sweetness shown through even then. She was a happy child giving such pleasure to us all, her dad, mom, grandparents and me. Unfortunately for me, I went to college out of state the following year, graduated 4 years later, then took an apartment in the city (Chicago). So I missed a great deal of her formative years. But, we did have some good times together and we kept in touch. We really became closer after she grew up and the 17-year gap closed somewhat. We laughed together, had serious discussions together, shared memories of family that only sisters can. She was a beautiful, gifted, talented person who touched many, many lives as attested to by the more than 200 people who came to her memorial service in May 2004. I miss her so very much. Candace had the most beautiful voice. She attended Grand Canyon College on a music scholarship and went on to become choir director of Albright United Methodist Church in Phoenix. Her voice easily rivaled the best of Operatic Divas. Candace was a most beautiful woman: in spirit and in body. Kind,generous,forgiving,with a child-like innocence that is rare in people, her personality caused her to be loved by all who got to know her. Her smile and stunning blue eyes could melt the heart of any gentleman. I met Candace in Feb. 2000 and fell in love. We were together for nearly 4 years and they are the greatest part of my life. I miss her very much, but I know that the voice silenced by Candace's illness is now clear and radiant again. Sail on, Proud Goddess!
